Bow Cross – Hot Spots

hot-spots-001With the Bow Cross Artist Residency drawing to a close, artist in residence – Simon Terrill has sent us the following message, along with a link to a great video taken on the night of the event, which we have included below:

Dear Bow Cross Residents,

As the Bow Cross Artist Residency is now drawing to a close I wanted to extend a huge thankyou to everyone who has been involved, especially all who participated in the night of the shoot last September. Thanks to your involvement the work has been a great success and I hope you can take pride in seeing your neighbourhood depicted in the resulting photographs and video work.

Large colour photographs are now on permanent display at the Bow Cross Community Centre. Do drop in to have a look if you have not already done so. In addition, there is:

  • a 10 minute video -  offering a meditation on regeneration and the identity of a street (Rainhill Way)
  • a slide show of documentary images revealing the richness and complexity of Bow Cross, as seen on the night of the Hot Spots shoot
  • a 52 page book that describes in photographs the journey Bow Cross has undergone from the 1970’s to now

The book, video and images can all be seen online here: http://www.acme.org.uk/bowcross.php

In addition to the residency I have made a billboard titled Coming/Going that will be installed in the new footpath connecting the DLR to Bow Cross. This will be on view from late February.

If you would like to obtain a hard copy of the book, or have any other enquiries please do not hesitate to contact myself or Acme Studios.

I hope you gain as much interest and pleasure viewing the work as I did working in Bow Cross.
