How the RCC has made a difference

The Residents’ Consultative Committees for Essex and for London meet every month with Swan staff to comment on and shape future service delivery.

Members represent their neighbours and local communities. Below is a quick summary of some of the issues the RCCs have considered during their meetings. As well as making sure their neighbourhood receives good quality services they have:

  • Attended government sponsored conferences and events on anti social behaviour.
  • Met with Swan senior management and board members to discuss improvement plans and future plans for Swan Housing Association
  • Taken part in the review of the rent arrears service, resident involvement service and allocations policy
  • Visited other areas of Swan’s housing to find out about the issues affecting different communities and what swan is doing to address them
  • Raised and resolved issues affecting their local communities

Policies

Both RCCs have approved a number of new/amended policies including Domestic Violence, Tenancy Audit and Complaints handling policies

How Swan are performing

At each meeting, the RCCs keep up to speed with how Swan is performing by receiving reports relating to Community Development activities, Neighbourhood Services and Rent Arrears collection

New Publications

Both RCCs were consulted on the proposed new design of the tenants’ handbook

Service Improvements

A Residents’ Suggestion Scheme has recently been developed following consultation with and approval by the RCCs. Residents were also provided with an update on proposals to review the telephone system at Swan. Members of the RCCs also attended the Service Improvement Away Day.
